In Oil & Gas and Petrochemical plants frequent maintenance and/or shutdowns of different fluids are foreseen and there are safety procedures in place to avoid unforeseen events related to maintenance activities and to control the risks induced by the flow of fluids, often toxic and explosive, at high pressure and temperature.
For this purpose, in pipelines are used Line Blanks which are piping components used as isolation flange.
Line Blanks are inserted between two mating flanges to allow or not the fluid flow through open and closed position. They are needed during maintenance operation or inspection and testing to prevent leakage of one fluid into another.
They can be manufactured according ASME B16.48 or end user drawings in the shape of Figure 8 Blank, paddle Blank and Paddle Spacer.
